A
few years back, one could not have imagined that the robots will be sitting in
offices and working with the humans. After the creation, and perfection of
robots, they were only considered as cold-hearted machines which only performed
commands which were programmed in them. They were mostly used in factories to
perform tasks with precision, speed and force. Now a days, science has excelled
beyond the imagination of our fore-fathers. Today, robots are being used in
academic research labs and, for fun, taking part in robotic soccer leagues. The
first robots were confined in the industries, but now they have started to move
and explore the world. Most of them are controlled by humans but the new latest
designs are independent of human control. The scientists are working more and
more towards making the robots look like humans. They, not only look like
humans, but also can work along with humans. This new breed of ‘humanoid’
robots are being manufactured, designed and programmed in various companies.
The studies on Robotics are now expanding and new things are being added,
almost every day.
Bentham Science Publishers
is a major STM journal publisher of 116 online and print journals, 150 plus
open access journals. It also has eBooks on various subjects including Networking Humans, Robots and Environments. This book dives into the heart of how to design
distributed control architectures for heterogeneous teams of humans, robots,
and automated systems, enabling them to achieve greater cooperation and
autonomy through the use of network technologies.
